We are the Wellington Compost Collective, a volunteer group running community composting hubs around Wellington.

We started because food scraps were going into landfill when they could be turned into something useful for local gardens and green spaces. Composting closer to home cuts down on waste and gives back to the community at the same time.
Our hubs rely on volunteers who help keep drop-off points running, manage rosters, and turn and maintain the compost. We coordinate this work so that anyone in Wellington who wants to compost their food scraps has a local place to do it, whether or not they have space for their own compost bin at home.
This site is where we bring together our drop-off points, volunteer rosters, and local sign-ups in one place, so it is easier for people to find a hub near them and for volunteers to know when they are needed.
We welcome anyone in Wellington who wants to reduce their food waste, and anyone who would like to volunteer their time to help keep the hubs running.
